Looking for a miracle
On Tuesday the 9th March at 18.00 in Podpromie sports hall Asseco Resovia RZESZOW will be playing the second leg against defending champions of CICL – TRENTINO Volley. In the first game in Trento that was staged last Wednesday pre-favorites Italians outclassed the Poles 3-0 and thanks to this convincing victory they only need one set to secure their spot in Final Four in Lodz.
The hosts are aware of their difficult situation after painful defeat in Italy. However, their goal is to show the best possible volleyball and satisfy the local fans. They will be looking for their chances and some miracle as they have to win the game 3-0 and then the additional golden set in order to make their dreams about Final Four come truth.
- We weren’t the favorites of this duel and now, after 0-3 defeat in Trento, our situation is even worst. It is clear that our chances to advance to the best four are very weak at the moment. Trentino needs just only one set in order to celebrate their promotion to the Final Four and after that they can play some funny volleyball. Anyway, the only thing we can do is to show our best possible volleyball. We have to pick up the glove and fight until the end. It’s also important for us to get some new experience and try to learn something from our games in CICL. Besides who knows, this is a sport and some miracles also happens from time to time - stated Krzysztof Gierczynski, Asseco Resovia captain.
- We will try to play this game with a maximum concentration and to show a positive attitude on the court, at least the same as we did in the first set in Trento this past Wednesday. It will be extremely difficult for us to win this game especially considering the fact that we are facing the best team in the world. The truth is that if Trento plays their best volleyball we will have very weak chances for the victory. It is not about our faith or tactics – it’s rather about the potential of the teams and big difference between the individual skills of some players. We can only try to present our best possible volleyball and not to commit as many mistakes as we did in Trento – added Ljubo Travica, Asseco Resovia head coach.
On the other hand, Trentino players will be concentrated on winning at least one set that will give them the promotion to the Final Four – second time in a row in their second ever participation in CICL.
- Definitely we are in a favourable situation after first leg in Trento however we haven’t qualified yet and we have to be well prepared for the return game in Rzeszow. It is important for us not to lose the concentration and be cautious on the court. We know that Resovia has a very interesting team with 2-3 players on a really high level. They didn’t show all of their potential in the first game and I’m sure they will be more dangerous at home. We respect this team but our goal is to win at least one set and advance to the Final Four – expressed Radostin Stoytchev, TRENTINO Volley head coach.
- We can’t think that we are already in the Final Four. Resovia showed in the first set in Trento that they can play very well. I am convinced that the return game in Poland in front of their home crowd will be difficult for us. Of course thanks to our convincing victory in Trento we just need only one set in Rzeszow but I suppose that it will be a big battle even for that - ended Matey Kaziyski, the captain of TRENTINO Volley.
Even though Asseco Resovia has very small chances to overturn unfavourable result from the first leg, the game in Poland will be a big event for the local supporters and whole city of Rzeszow. Podpromie sports hall will be overcrowded as Polish fans admire volleyball on a very high level and would love to see in action such wonderful players as Kaziyski, Juantorena and Vissotto.
