Asseco Resovia wants to make another surprise in CICL

The most important games in this edition of CEV Indesit Champions League are approaching to the final stage. This Wednesday, the 3rd Match at 20.30 in Palatrento, Asseco Resovia RZESZOW plays a first leg of the Playoffs 6 duel against star-studded team TRENTINO Volley. The return game will be held in Rzeszow next Tuesday, 9th March, at 18.00 in Podpromie sports hall.

In the last game of Italian League A1 this past Sunday Itas Diatec Trentino defeated Marmi Lanza Verona 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 34-32). Osmany Juantorena Portuondo has been chosen MVP of the game with 25 points (including 4 from service and 4 in block!) and 61 % in attack. The starting line-up of TRENTINO in this match was: setter Raphael Vieira de Oliveira, opposite Leandro Neves Vissotto, receivers – Matey Kaziyski and Osmany Juantorena Portuondo, middle-blockers – Emanuele Birarelli and Andrea Sala, libero – Andrea Bari.  
We present you some comments of the head coaches and players of both teams before the Wednesday game in Italy.

Ljubo Travica (Asseco Resovia head coach):

- On paper Trentino is definitely the favorite of this competition. Anyway, I hope that my players will stay calm and play without any nerves and pressure. I believe that they will show their quality and all their potential skills. It is not going to be an easy game for both teams. I suppose that Trentino will also try to show their best volleyball. We know that Trentino has great spikers who are very efficient also from the high, difficult balls. However, we rely on our service and hope to cause them a lot of problems in reception. We are not going to Italy for holidays. Our aim is to win all the matches until the end of the season, including this upcoming game in Trento. It will be very tough but it is not impossible. I hope that we will present a good, balanced volleyball. We will try to put Trentino in difficulties or at least not to make them easy to play against us. If we manage to do this, the result is still open.

Krzysztof Gierczynski (Asseco Resovia captain):

- We are aware of the fact that we will face an excellent, world-class team and we respect our opponents for sure. However, we are coming to Italy in order to achieve a good result for us. We are not favorites on paper but this is a sport and anything can happen. I think we have our chances. We will not give up before the game and will be fighting for each ball until the end.
- In my opinion Trentino has a solid, complete roster, actually without any weaker points. Even if they don’t have a perfect reception they can count on their mighty spikers – Vissotto, Kaziyski and Juantorena who are able to score the points in attack and service. On the other hand we have to do everything in order to get favorable score for us. We know that loosing the game 0-3 in Trento would put us in a very difficult, practically hopeless situation, before the return game in Rzeszow. In Playoffs12 Belgian team from Roesalare caused some problems to Italians. We also hope that we will surprise them by our good level of play. It would be great if we could provoke another sensation in CICL and qualify to the Final Four but it is a long and difficult way to that. At least we are not without any chances before this duel and everything will be decided on the court.

Radostin Stoytchev (head coach of Trentino Volley):

- On Wednesday we play only the first half of a match, that will finish next week in Poland we never have to lose the concentration and determination in every single moment of this fight. Asseco Resovia is a team, that arrived until now not by chance; it has very good players, who surely will put us in difficulty and especially in the away match the team can rely on its fans. For these reasons we have to do our best to win the home match with the best result possible, to arrive in Poland with more possibilities. Considering the high level of both teams, we can say that is a Semifinal in advance.
 
Matey Kaziyski (the captain of Trentino Volley):

- In the last two weeks we worked hardly, thinking almost exclusively at Resovia and at this upcoming home match. Playing the first match in our home court is definitely a disadvantage, because usually the qualification is decided only in the away match and we will be in Poland in an adverse situation. We want to gain the pass to the Final Four but we are conscious that it will not be easy.
